My Italian Secret:  The Forgotten Heroes

Please join us for the Wagner College Holocaust Education & Programming Center's screening of Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker, Oren Jacoby's film, My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes.

The film showcases the daring story of Italian cyclist Gino Bartali (voiced by late actor Robert Loggia '51, a Wagner College alumnus) a courier of forged documents, and other valiant Italians who rescued 80% of Italy's Jews and refugees from the Nazis in World War II.

Following the screening, an open discussion will be hosted by Vincent Marmorale, President of the Italy and the Holocaust Foundation, with remarks by former Staten Island Borough President, Ralph Lamberti and former New York State Senator Seymour Lachman.

The film screening will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Room 2 of Spiro Hall. Guests are also welcome to complimentary appetizers in the Sukkah located in front of Cunard Hall on campus at 5:30 p.m.

This event is co-sponsored by Casa Belvedere, the Italian Cultural Foundation, the National Organization of Italian-American Women, the Joan and Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center and the Council of Jewish Organizations of Staten Island.
