About Us

The Wagner College Guild celebrated its 107th anniversary in 2025. The Guild is Wagner’s oldest organization, formed by faculty wives to provide support for divinity students away from home pursuing their education. The Guild members provided transportation, sewed buttons, and invited students back to their homes for a home-cooked meal and a respite from their studies. Today, the Guild’s mission remains largely unchanged from its inception over 100 years ago, with its members continuing to support students in need. This includes The Lila T. Barbes ’40 Wagner College Guild Scholarship, which is awarded to two students each year. As well as supporting the Make a Difference Fund, which provides immediate emergency financial assistance to students in need so that they may continue their education without interruption.
